Please be informed that the university’s faculty and staff will be granted twelve Summer Appreciation Days Off this year as usual, with no individual application required. The twelve days fall respectively on every Tuesday and Friday from July 9 to August 16, 2024, as listed in the table.
As the total number of days free from attendance already exceeds the statutory annual requirement, for employees covered by the Labor Standards Act and entitled to the aforementioned days off as well, no deferral or commutation of wages will be made if an individual is unable to take leave according to the schedule due to business reasons and has not yet taken such leave after having been authorized to choose a replacement day. Besides, Labor Day, i.e., Wednesday, May 1, 2024, will also be regarded as an ordinary workday (or a regular leave, or a rest day as agreed) for which no compensatory day off will be granted.
In the case of the calculation of the duration of maternity leave or miscarriage leave, no extra deduction will be made for these days off like regular leaves. Moreover, except for special business considerations approved by the university authority, staff members required to work on these days off by their supervisors shall take pertinent compensatory leave before December 31, 2024.
As for project personnel and those employed or jointly employed by affiliated hospitals, kindergarten, or childcare center, please check with pertinent principal investigators, HR Departments, or supervisors since the policy may vary between PIs/institutions.
