2. The service hours for processing research assistants’ employment and resignation fall between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM each workday.

3. Application process for new recruits must be completed at the latest three days before the date of employment.

4. Applications for recruiting non-Taiwanese research assistants are acceptable only when pertinent work permits and ARC are both available. (online application for a work permitEZ Work Taiwan)

5. According to Article 50 of the Employment-Service Act, the weekly working hours of non-Taiwanese part-time assistants and temporary workers could not exceed 20 hours, except for winter or summer vacation.

6. Renewed employment application must be completed for the latest three days before the expiration date of employment.

7. Pay adjustment application process must be completed for the latest three days by the 1st day of each month.

8. Leaving notice: full-time assistants must have resignation applications presented to HR one month before the expiration date of employment, whereas part-time assistants, grant-winning students, and temporary workers must have it done three days in advance. 

9. Starting August 1, 2017, research assistants dealing with academic research affairs are required to obtain proof of receiving at least 6 hours of academic ethics training from the "Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center" website at https://ethics.nctu.edu.tw/ and then upload scanned files of certificates to KMU Information System (WAC) "T.0.06 off-campus personnel data maintenance" before employment. 

10. For sign-in and sign-out, please log in to the KMU Information System (WAC) → open query → Q.6.0.02, using your ID number as password.

§  Hiring and reporting procedures for foreign full-time assistants/postdoctoral research fellow

§  Documents to be submitted for employing full-time assistants:

I.Initial Employment

1.     Checklist for reporting for duty (pre-employment physical examination report must be submitted to Office of Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety and Health first)

2.     Employment Application (two copies required)

3.     Employment Contract (two copies required, one for your record-keeping)

4.     Letter of Intent for the Selection of and the Contribution to the Labor Pension Fund System (only for nationals of ROC)

5.     Salary Income Recipient's Tax Allowance Declaration Form (no matter whether you have anyone to support or not)

6.     Passbook cover with ID card/ARC number written (to be submitted to Cashiers Section separately)

7.     Documents to be uploaded to the KMU Information System:

(1) A scanned copy of both sides of the ID card/ARC

(2) A scanned copy of the cover of the passbook issued by Chang Hwa Bank or Chunghwa Post Office

(3) A scanned copy of the highest education diploma (Original copy required for verification only. Foreign academic credentials must be verified by overseas embassies.)

(4) Proof of receiving 6-hour academic ethics training from "Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center" (first-time MOST research assistants only)

II.Renewed Employment

1.     Employment Application (two copies required)

2.     Employment contract (two copies required, one for your record-keeping)

III.Resignation/Termination

1.      Application for Resignation (respectively stamped by PI and librarian before submitting to HR Office)

§  Reminders for Part-time Assistants & Temporary Workers:

Payroll maintenance online must be completed from the 26th day to the 29th day per month. In case you miss the above dates, please print your own payment voucher instead, and follow the pertinent procedures accordingly.

Please apply for the latest three days before the date of employment or leaving.  Late applications will not be accepted. And anything concerning payroll, labor pension, labor, and health insurance will only become valid as soon as employment is completed.

If the duration of employment is less than one month, please select "daily wage", with an 8-hour limit of work hours per day; if the duration exceeds one month, you may choose "salary". The salary for employment less than one month will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

The School’s criteria for the payment of research scholarship grantees and part-time research assistants have been revised as per the official letter of the National Science and Technology Council (code: 科部綜字第1100075575號) dated December 28, 2021, and are effective as of August 1, 2022.
