Full-time professors who intend to apply for sabbatical leave for the 2025/2026 academic year are requested to submit their applications to the respective departments (institutes, centers, degree programs) starting today, and no later than January 3, 2025. We kindly ask all units to complete department-level and college-level faculty evaluations by March 31, 2025. These evaluations should be sent to the Human Resources Office for processing.
1.According to Articles 3 and 4 of the Regulations Governing the Sabbatical Leave of Professors, full-time professors who have completed at least seven consecutive semesters of service with excellent performance are eligible to apply for a one-semester study sabbatical. Professors with at least seven years of continuous service and excellent performance may apply for a sabbatical leave for one academic year. The application should be accompanied by a proposal, and be reviewed sequentially by the Faculty Evaluation Committee at all three levels before being submitted for the President's approval.
2.However, professors in the following circumstances are not eligible to apply.
(1) Professors who have reached retirement age and have been granted a service extension.
(2) Professors who have been approved to study, lecture, or conduct research domestically or internationally and are still in the process of fulfilling their service obligations.
(3) Professors who have been on an approved study sabbatical and have returned to the university to serve for less than seven consecutive semesters.
3.Applicants should submit their applications via the Campus Information System (https://wac.kmu.edu.tw) under T.6.0.05. Full-time Faculty Sabbatical Study Application/Print the Form.
4.Departments (institutions, centers, degree programs) and colleges (Center for General Education) are requested to provide the review results by the deadline to the Human Resources Office to be compiled and forwarded to the Institution-level teacher evaluation committee for final review.
