To All Principal Investigators and Project Personnel,

Please be informed that the schedule for implementing public holidays in each academic year announced annually by the University is compiled according to the pertinent Work Calendars released by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, Executive Yuan. Therefore, Labor Day is not included in the schedule.

However, Labor Day is a statutory holiday for workers under the Labor Standards Act. For secondment staff from the affiliated hospital or project personnel who are not eligible for the University's summer appreciation days off and do not have another agreement with the University or PIs regarding compensatory leave dates, they should have the day off. If attendance for work is required on that day but cannot be rescheduled, the overtime pay should be paid at double the normal rate in accordance with the Labor Standards Act.

Therefore, for this year's Labor Day on Wednesday, May 1, those who qualify for the aforementioned holiday should have the day off. If there is an agreement to reschedule, please specify the date and take the compensatory leave by December 31 of this year or before the contract ends.

Your cooperation in this regard will be highly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Yang in the Human Resources Office at ext. 2069, for full-time project personnel affairs or Ms. Hsieh at ext. 2071 for part-time project personnel and temporary workers affairs.

Note:  For detailed regulations regarding the holiday and rescheduling of Labor Day, please refer to the announcement of the implementation dates of public holidays for the academic year 2023-2024 (https://personnel.kmu.edu.tw/index.php/en-gb/calendar/public-holidays-dates) and the implementation dates of summer appreciation days off for faculty and staff for the year 2024 (https://personnel.kmu.edu.tw/index.php/en-gb/calendar/kmu%E2%80%99s-summer-appreciation-days-off) of the University.
