Please be advised that full-time professors who wish to request a sabbatical leave for the academic year 2023-2024 should apply to their departments (institutes, centers, degree programs) from now on. The applications should be reviewed sequentially by the Faculty Evaluation Committee at the department and college levels, and then submitted to the Human Resources Office by Friday, February 24, 2023.
According to Article 3 and Article 4 of the University’s Sabbatical Leave Regulations for Professors, full-time professors who have completed at least seven consecutive semesters of service with excellent performance are eligible to apply for one semester of study sabbatical; those with at least seven years of continuous service and excellent performance may apply for a sabbatical leave for one academic year. The application should be accompanied by a proposal, and be reviewed sequentially by the Faculty Evaluation Committee at all three levels before being submitted for the President’s approval.
However, those who have the following circumstances are not allowed to apply.
I. Professors who have reached retirement age and been granted a service extension.
II. Professors who had been approved to study, lecture, or research within the country or abroad and are still in the process of fulfilling their service obligations.
III. Professors who had been on an approved study sabbatical and have returned to the university to serve for less than seven consecutive semesters.
Departments (institutions, centers, degree programs) and colleges (Center for General Education) are requested to provide their review results by the deadline to Human Resources Office so as to be compiled and submitted to the University's Faculty Evaluation Committee for review.
The application form is available to download from the “Frequently Used Forms for Faculty” webpage of the Human Resources Office’s website.
